The biggest struggle we had with this contest is that some of the beer sold out, meaning we would have to brew another batch between rounds. We brewed each recipe on our pilot system and had a plan to have a tournament, bracket-style voting for each beer with our guests. Our employees at the time worked with me to develop a recipe. Starting in 2018 and finishing in 2019 we ran an employee brewing competition. They sell for $18 a piece but we will be selling all 3 (Mexican Hot Chocolate, Bourbon Aged Coffee Bean, and Vanilla Bean) for $39.99 for the set. We will also be running a sale on Saturn Ascends variants. However, we will have it on sale starting Black Friday and for the following week for $24.99. We posted pictures on Instagram and Facebook this morning and the interest we have had has been amazing so far! I wanted to describe these beers to you, offer some pairing ideas for the holiday, and let you know the price.įirst, the price for the set is $29.99. Overall eh, some interesting characters but fairly poorly done.I am incredibly excited about our giftset we will begin offering on Friday. Mouth is med bod, way over carbonated distracting carb, and somehow booze warmth. Sweetness dries a bit on the finish, still sticky, plenty more winter warmer and baking spices, cinnamon ginger allspice clove thing, little oatmeal cookie dough. Taste brings sweet candy thing, candi sugar, lots of radiation and cinnamon cookie spices, winter warmer spices, baking spices, little oatmeal cookie dough, mild phenols and booze warmth, spicy with a little anise, gingerbread cookie too, some raisin like cinnamon covered candied raisin thing, caramel malt. Nose smells like fermented gourd like a bad pumpkin beer, cinnamon and other spices, maybe a touch of toasted oats and cookie dough, vegetal bbq sauce thing, winter warmer spices, little raisin in the background, then big candi sugar and phenols with booze warmth. Feb 01, 2017īig foamy 2 finger head fades at a fair pace, mild spotty lacing, hazy murky reddish maroon color, lots of yeast chunks sinking to the bottom. That in itself makes it a bit gimmicky and of course I bought.īest to stay clear of this one – not as advertised. This just seems forced out into production without any care to take the time to develop and finesse required in making this something exceptional. Dry in the finish with some spritz of carbonation and some earthy bitterness. There is a mild underlay of sweetened raisin and toasted brown malts with a touch of honey and marzipan to it. ![]() ![]() The taste is overrun by the chalky acerbic cinnamon as well. I get the sweetness of golden raisins coming through as well. The aroma brings a sharp sort of synthetic cinnamon note that just seems or odd and chemical like to me. Rocky tan foam laps over the top and finally settles back down into the glass leaving a few dotted islands of lace left behind. Looks fine enough with a dark amber brownish body and some mild hazy distortion to the body. A tremendous let down…like falling hard for a good lookin’ tranny. I love me a good Oatmeal Raisin any time of day but there are good ones and then there are, well, this one. ![]()
